<영어>초6아이 1년간 영자신문으로 화상영어 하기

직접 돈주고 10달 동안 진행했습니다 ;)

 

첫째 아이가 화상영어를 한지 10개월.

코로나로 인한 선택이었지만.

2020년을 정리하며 느낀 점은. 화상영어 만으로 늘었다.

우리 부부가 아이들 영어 교육으로 화상영어를 처음 시작하며 가장 중요하게 생각한 것은

​

1) 프리토킹으로 시간때우기만을 하지 말것

2) 1:1의 강점을 살려 디베이트를 통한 영어 사고력 키우기.

3) 학원 만큼 빡세게 시키기..

​

10개월간의 결과만을 이야기하자면

주1회 50분 수업 10개월로 프로과정으로 업그레이드.

물론 10개월의 시간이 흘러가니 영어가 그냥 늘더라 따위의 스토리는 아니다

아이가 그간 공부했던 방법을 살펴보면 제법 정석으로 했다.

1. 예습: 영자신문을 고르고 읽고, 단어를 찾고 문장을 이해함.

* 단어는 반드시 영영사전을 사용했다. 그래야 원어민에게 설명이 가능하므로

화상영어 회사에서 제공한 영자신문 별 디베이트 문제를 미리 준비.

2. 수업: 50분간 수업. 1:1이다 보니 50분을 꽉채워 이야기 하는게 특히 좋았다.

3. 복습: 선생님께서 내주신 에세이를 업로드 하고 첨삭을 받은 후 다시 고치는 과정 반복.

아래는 아이가 공부한 내용의 예이다.

공부는 4단계로 나눠지는데

신문을 보고- 단어를 찾고-문제를 생각해보고-에세이 과제까지..

지나고 보니 빡세게 시켰다는 생각이...

2. 단어를 찾아보고 ( 영영 사전 이용)

authorities: 당국(<-뜻: 어떤 일을 직접 맡아 하는 기관), who have power or position Ex) police officers, experts on certain field, soldiers

textile: a fabric that is woven or knit, 옷감

wreckage: broken; badly damaged

3. 신문 내용을 파악하고 주제 찾고 디베이트 내용 준비 하기

​

1. What happened on November 25? Where did the accident happen?

- An accident occurred on Nov. 25 in the Taguai region of Sao Paulo, which is approximately 350 km away from the state capital.

2. What were found at the scene of the crash?

- At the scene of the crash, 37 passengers were found dead.

3. What did the state police say?

- The state police said, “We know there are more victims in the wreckage of the vehicles, but we don’t know how many.”

 

1. Assuming that you are in the accident area, what is the first thing that you would do to help them? Explain your answer.

Call 911. They can help rescue people.

2. It hasn’t been identified what the real cause of the collision was. Based on the possibilities, what would be the potential cause of the aforementioned?

- The bus driver or truck driver have crashed really strongly. Or someone shot The bus driver or truck driver’s eye and the person could not see and just drove forward and crashed.

4. 에세이 과제 하기

​

There are many road accidents these days. So, I am going to tell you 3 ways to avoid road accidents. The 3 ways to avoid road accidents are focus while driving, don't drink and drive and always follow traffic rules.

First, focus while driving. In the movie The Blind Side, Michael was driving and was singing with S.J. and wasn't focused. So, he got into a road accident. But if he was focused, he wouldn't been in a road accident.

Second, don't drink drive. Actually in Incheon a man drink and drove and he hit a car. So, the woman riding the car with him got badly injured and was taken to a nearby hospital but died.

Third, always follow traffic rules. There are many road accidents because people dis- obey traffic rules. Such as drink and driving, cutting in front of a another car, and violating the safety speed. So, if you follow the traffic rules, the road would be very peaceful.

In conclusion, there are 3 ways to avoid road accidents. The 3 ways to avoid road accidents are focus while driving, don't drink and drive and always follow traffic rules.

대략 이과정을 하다보면 영어가 안늘긴 힘들다;;;

이렇게 하고도 가끔 혼자 이런 저런 독후 활동도..

코로나 신문 기사를 너무 읽다보니 스스로 뉴스를 만들어보았다.

그때만해도 코로나가 크리스 마스 이전에 끝날것이라고 생각했다는...ㅠㅠ
